What to expect

The following contains my thoughts and experiences about Las Vegas. I’ve visited more than a dozen times and followed what appears to be a typical trajectory of people who like Las Vegas and visit often.
I am going to share what I think is great, ok, and poor.

Just like anyone who’s been to Vegas several times I think it’s changing…and in many ways for the worse. There two ways to look at this change however. Everyone as they age says its not as good as it used to be where in fact bosses are merely changing with the times and the crowds that bring the cash. Alternatively, if you look wholistically at Vegas there is a lot of very drastic change. That doesn’t mean I am not going back, it doesn’t mean I don’t have fun when I go, and it doesn’t mean there isn’t new great stuff there. It just means I think it used to be better overall.
I’ll call out many of my favorite things to do in Las Vegas in addition to things you can probably skip.

You are probably thinking to yourself that all of the above “best” things are subjective. Very true.
About Me:
Married with children, middle class, from the “Midwest”, desk job, old millennial (I am of the oldest of the millennials), kind of techie, fairly educated. I’d never been to a casino until my best friend’s bachelor party when I was ~29 over a decade ago. First trip to Vegas was in 2013 and the second was in 2016. From 2016 onward I went three or four times a year including through the sickness era of 2020 after Vegas reopened. My favorite trips are with my wife but I often go alone to unwind and recharge from life.
